TAIPEI 101
TAIPEI 101 is situated in the most prestigious area of Taipei, marking the largest engineering project in the history of domestic architecture. The project was primarily undertaken by Taipei Financial Center Corporation, composed of fourteen domestic enterprises collaborating with professional teams from both domestic and international spheres. The intricate design was meticulously crafted by the internationally renowned architect, C.Y. Lee, transcending the conventional concept by incorporating the auspicious number "eight" (homophonous with "prosperity") as a foundational design element. Every eight floors constitute a structural unit, seamlessly stacked to create a rhythmic and harmonious external appearance, pioneering a new international style for skyscrapers.
The multi-sectioned exterior of TAIPEI 101 employs advanced Mega Structure technology to ensure significant benefits in disaster prevention and wind resistance. Each set of eight floors forms an independently structured space, naturally diffusing air currents that high-rise buildings might induce on the ground level. The architectural design includes green planting zones to ensure safety and comfort for pedestrians. The building's shape resembles sturdy, ascending bamboo shoots, symbolizing the enduring vitality of traditional architecture. The inward-sloping seven-degree facets gradually ascend, complemented by highly transparent, non-reflective, energy-saving curtain wall glass, offering visitors panoramic views from Taiwan's tallest building. The integration of high-tech materials and innovative lighting techniques creates a visually immersive and transparent effect, harmonizing with the natural and surrounding environment on a grand scale.
